The pre-season seminar for referees and commissioners was held on the basis of the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture in Minsk from 27 to 28 August. 39 referees and 12 commissioners, as well as students of the State University of Physical Culture, who study basketball, took part in the seminar.
The official lecturer of the seminar was a Serbian specialist, FIBA instructor Miodrag Lichina.
The participants addressed and studied such relevant topics as “Official rules of basketball. The main changes in 2022”, “The main aspects of 3PO. FIBA recommendations 2022”, “Flagrant foul. Criteria 2022”, “Game management. Willingness to make decisions and responsibility”, “Throw. Criteria for determining”, etc.
In addition, there were 2 practical classes in the gym, during which the participants carried out the elements of 3PO and individual officiating technique.
The participants of the seminar also passed a theoretical test to proof a knowledge of the Official Basketball Rules and the Regulations of the Championship of the Republic of Belarus.
“For the 4th year already, on the very eve of a new season, we are meeting at the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture. Those two days of work were very productive. There was a vigorous debate in the classroom, a lot of questions and answers. Each participant was able to get a complete explanation and correct interpretation of certain game moments. This kind of seminar format with the invitation of a FIBA Instructor is a great opportunity for the RKS to raise the professional level of our referees and, accordingly, the quality of their work during the games of the Championship. Following the results of the seminar, young referees Uladzislau Yurevich and Nastassia Raskopa will have the opportunity to officiate of the Championship in season2022-2023”– said RKS Chairman Piotr Ivashkov.
The seminar was hosted by the Belarusian Basketball Federation and the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.
