"The formation of national teams has always been a priority for the Belarusian Basketball Federation, and together with the Ministry of Sports and Tourism and the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, we have been working for many years to ensure the flow of young talent into the senior national teams never runs dry," Marynina said. – "The Ryzhenkov memorial tournament is attended by boys born in 2009, technically a year younger than the designated U-16 category. This U-15 team has been training at the Republican State School of Olympic Reserve for three years now. The girls' national team comprises athletes from the Grodno State School of Olympic Reserve, reinforced by basketball players from the Minsk-based RGUOR. Given the sanctions, we are fortunate that basketball remains the only team sport in Belarus that can host competitions with foreign participants. Teams from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are always eager to visit us. This is incredibly valuable as it allows us to assess our athletes' performance against international teams. We are grateful to the Russian Basketball Federation for sending three teams here. There will be plenty of exciting matches. We are developing, working hard, and despite all restrictions, our goal is to stay active and form strong national teams across age categories".

Eight teams are participating in the event: the U-16 boys from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, and Krasnodar's "Lokomotiv-Kuban", while the girls' category is represented by teams from Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Russian teams "Samara" (Sports School No. 13) and "Mytishchi" (Basketball Sports School).
