On February 28, 2022, as part of the second “window” of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers, Great Britain will host the team of Belarus.
It is planned that on February 18 the National team of Belarus will begin its trainings.
It should be recalled, according to the results of the draw for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers, which took place on August 31, 2021, that the Belarusians got into Group B, and that means that their opponents will be the teams of Great Britain, Greece and Turkey.
On November 25, at the home arena, Belarus defeated the National team of Turkey with a score of 84:70, and on November 28, it lost to the Greeks at the away game 67:77.
In the first qualifying match at home Great Britain beat the team of Greece 78:69, and after that was defeated at the away game with Turkey with a score of 67:84.

Within the framework of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers, the teams are to play in six “windows” within 15 months. The first three "windows" of the European Qualifiers consist of 32 teams, and they will be divided into 8 groups of 4 teams. Each of the teams will play 2 matches with each opponent within their pool. Then the 3 best teams from each group will advance to the second round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers, where they will form 4 pools of 6 teams. At this round of European Qualifiers in the 3 "windows" each team will play two matches with three opponents from the other group. And eventually 3 best teams from each pool (12 teams in total) will win free pass to the World Cup.
In total, 80 teams will participate in the main round of Qualifiers for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 in four regions (Africa - 16 teams, America - 16, Asia (including Oceania) - 16, Europe - 32).

According to the results of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers, 12 teams will get free pass to the World Cup.
It should be recalled that from February 2020 to February 2021, the National team of Belarus took part in the first round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers, in which they won 5 matches out of 6 matches and advanced to the next stage of qualification from the second place in Group A.
In the second round the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers, Rostislav Vergun's players beat the team of Romania on two occasions and were defeated be the team of Latvia twice, which allowed them to take second place in Group D and reach the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers will be held in multiple countries for the first time in the history of the competition. The tournament will be hosted by Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines. 32 teams compete for the medals.
