Edmunds Valeiko head coach of the National U-20 team: "First of all, I would like to thank the basketball federation for the opportunity to organize this camp in the middle of the season. I am sure that this training week will be beneficial to us and will have a positive effect on the main preparation process for the FIBA European U20 Championship. I would also like to thank the National Championship team’s coaches, who let their players join this camp without any problems. It is understood that at the height of the season, each of the clubs have their own plans for the players. However, considering that players of this age are the closest reserve of the National Team, they need to get used to such a schedule and be always ready to join the adult team at any time. Initially, 15 basketball players were to participate in the camp. However, unfortunately, Daniil Kalesnikau, could not join us due to family circumstances. As for Kanstantsin Pasko – he is injured at the moment, but he is present during lectures to keep up with the material we are studying with the team. The main task of this training camp is to study and improve team interactions in defense. Now we decided to focus on this aspect of the game so that in the summer we could devote more time and attention to other elements. I think that all boys have been waiting for this camp, so we will count on the positive energy and productive work".
Let us remind that the team is preparing for the FIBA U20 European Championship (Division B). The Championship is planned from 17th to 25th July 2021 in Tbilisi (Georgia).
