Rostislav Vergun head coach of the Men's National team: "We are preparing for the upcoming games in a working atmosphere. Due to the fact that we have managed to qualify for the next round of the FIBA World Cup-2023, we decided to give the reserve team an opportunity to prove themselves in the upcoming games. Thus, it is possible that very soon Uladzislau Blizniuk and Vadzim Stubeda will debut in the National team. We also plan to include Malkou Artsiom, who is one of the key players of "Borisfen" from Mogilev, to the roster. Maksim Salash, who is the only player from the foreign team, will join the National team in Nicosia. The player, who won the title of the "Best Basketball Player of Belarus" in 2020, and his leadership qualities are essential for our team. As well as the presence of team’s captain – Uladzimir Verameyenka. As I always say, the games of the Belarusian Men’s National team always require a lot of attention. The National team does not have many games, so each requires a responsible approach and complete dedication from us. Therefore, we will enter the court against Portugal and Albania with only one thought – to win".
On 18th and 20th February 2021 in Nicosia (Cyprus), our National team will carry out 2 final games of the first Pre-Qualifiers round of the FIBA World Cup 2023. The opponents are going to be the National teams of Portugal and Albania.
Let us remind that the team has already advanced to the next round of the FIBA World Cup 2023 with 4 victories in 4 games (two over Cyprus, one over Portugal and over Albania).
The game Portugal vs Belarus will be shown live on the Belarus 5 TV channel on 18th February at 17:00 and the game against Albania on 20th February at 20:00 – live on "Belarus 5. Internet”. You can also watch them on the official FIBA YouTube channel.
