Today, on 14th February 2021, the Men's National team had the first practice session at the arena in Nicosia, where the team will play against team Portugal and team Albania within the first stage of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers on 18th and 20th February 2021.
The Belarusian National team includes 14 players: Verameyenka Uladzimir, Trastsinetski Aliaksei, Vadzim Stubeda, Andrei Stabrouski, Rahozenka Andrei, Blizniuk Uladzislau, Pustahvar Aliaksandr, Vikentsyeu Dzianis, Beliankou Yauheni, Dodoo Benjamin-Pavel, Barysevich Daniil (all "Tsmoki-Minsk" Belarus), Malkou Artsiom, Uladzislau Mikulski (both "Borisfen", Belarus), Maksim Salash ("San Pablo Burgos", Spain).
Head coach – Rostislav Vergun, assistant coach –Andrei Krivonos.
Maksim Salash will fly to Cyprus tomorrow evening and join the National team practices as on 16th February.
Uladzimir Verameyenka the captain of the Belarus Men's National team: “As regards the strength of the opponents, of course, team Portugal is a more balanced and experienced than Albanian one. However, despite the fact that we are already in the next Qualifiers Window, we came to Cyprus for two victories. In addition to that, I think that this situation will allow us to act more relaxed on the court, which should have a positive impact on our game and bring the necessary result".
On 18th and 20th February 2021 in Nicosia (Cyprus), our National team will carry out 2 final games of the first Pre-Qualifiers round of the FIBA World Cup 2023. The opponents are going to be the National teams of Portugal and Albania.
Let us remind that the team has already advanced to the next round of the FIBA World Cup 2023 with 4 victories in 4 games (two over Cyprus, one over Portugal and over Albania).
