Today, on 2nd February 2021, Yury Vouk’s team participated in international competitions in the capital of Ukraine.
On the way to the finals, our girls consistently beat the following teams:
U-18 (2) – 22:06;
U-21 – 21:14;
the second Ukrainian National Team – 21:11;
U-18 – 21:13.
In the finals, the Belarusians lost to the main Ukrainian National Team (13:21).
Yesterday, the Belarusians also took part in the first round of the Ukrainian "Pro League" in Kiev, where they had 5 games (2 victories, 3 losses).
Yury Vouk head coach of the Belarusian Women's National 3x3 team: "First of all, our girls have not had international 3x3 games for more than a year, so this kind of practice was truly necessary for them. We had 10 games during these two days, more than half of which against good European level teams. Two games generally stand out from the others: playoff with one of the strongest National Teams of Europe – the main team of Ukraine. Secondly, we were able to test our new tactics in defense and offense, which we have developed over the past year. Moreover, the past games have clearly revealed our weaknesses, which we will try to eliminate in the near future. It is also worth mentioning that this tournament is a vivid confirmation that 3x3 basketball is changing rapidly and progressing from year to year, acquiring its own specifics, and will pay special attention to it during the training process."
Let us remind that the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament begins in Austria in May 2021. Our Women's National 3x3 team, the only potential representative of team sports in Belarus for the upcoming Olympics, will also take part in the fight for the right to compete at the main event of the 2021 summer.
In September 2020, with the cooperation of BBF and BC "Tsmoki-Minsk", the first professional Belarusian Women's 3x3 team in Belarus was created on the basis of the club. The team consists of players who are preparing for the Olympics Qualifiers.
