Today, on 24 July, a number of decisions were taken at the meeting of the BBF Executive Committee.

"Final of Four" of the XXVIII Championships of the Republic of Belarus will be held from 4 to 6 September in Minsk

In September 2020 the sports complex RGUOR will welcome four strongest teams, which will fight for the gold of the XXVIII Championships of Belarus following the results of the regular season: Tsmoki-Minsk, Borisfen, Rubon, Grodno-93.

It should be noted that the first weekend of the upcoming September promises to be full of basketball events. In addition to the above-mentioned "Final of Four", the final stage of the National 3x3 Basketball League "Palova" will also be held on 5 September in Minsk.

XXIV Women’s Basketball Cup of the Republic of Belarus will be held from 19 to 20 September in Minsk

The sports complex RGUOR will also hold the competition between the women’s teams. The list of participants will be determined later, after the submission of teams’ applications.

XXIV Basketball Cup of the Republic of Belarus is planned for the second half of December 2020 in Mogilev.

Starting dates, participants and system of XXIX Championships of the Republic of Belarus

The start of XXIX Championships of Belarus among men's teams is scheduled for 26 September 2020

The following teams are planning to take part in the season 2020-2021:

5.      Tsmoki-Minsk (young), Minsk

The competition system:

The preliminary round consists of the first and second stages. In the first stage all teams play each other in 2 rounds (home /away). In the second stage the teams are divided into group A (1st-6th place) and group B (7th-11th place), and play with each other within their subgroups 2 more rounds.

According to the results of the preliminary stage all teams are classified by places from 1st to 11th.

  • 8 teams (6 from Group A and 2 from Group B) participate in the playoffs before the final places classification.
  • Games of the 1/4-final of the playoff series are played up to 2 victories.
  • Games of the 1/2 finals of the playoff series for 1st-4th places are held up to 3 victories.
  • Final and the 3rd place match are held up to 3 victories.
  • Matches for 5th-8th place are held up to 2 victories.

Teams that took 9th-11th places in the second stage will play 3 (three) "home" rounds (Friday-Saturday-Sunday) to determine the final places.

It should be noted that in the upcoming season Tsmoki-Minsk will start its participation in the National Championships from the first stage.

It was also decided that in the season 2020-2021 RCOP-SDUSHOR will become the farm team for the National Team of the Republic of Belarus (U-16 boys).

The start of the XXIX Women’s Championships of the Republic of Belarus is scheduled for 27 September 2020

The competition system:

At the group stage, all 8 teams play single games with each other in a circular system of 3 rounds (the distribution of home and away matches in the 1st round is made by draw).

According to the results of the preliminary stage all teams are classified by places from 1st to 8th.

  • Then playoff games (1-8, 2-7, 3-6, 4-5) until the final distribution of places in the Championships.
  • Games of the 1/4-final playoff series are played up to 2 victories.
  • Games of the 1/2 final playoff series for 1st-4th places are held up to 3 victories.
  • Final and the 3rd place match are held up to 3 victories.
  • Matches for 5th-8th place are held up to 2 victories.

A record number of teams will take part in the new season of Children and Youth Basketball League "Slodych"

The start of the main children's Championship of the country is scheduled for the early November 2020. 97 teams from different parts of Belarus have already confirmed their participation in the League now.

Preseason Republican Referee Clinic

The traditional Republican Clinic for domestic basketball referees is scheduled for 29-30 August 2020 at the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.
