Today, on July 4, the competitions winners in five categories were determined under the dome near the Sports Palace.
The triumphators of the National Basketball 3x3 League first stage are:
Category “Elite” – “I-basket”
Category “Girls” – “Chichivichki”
Category U-17 – “Power Rangers”
Category U-14 – “Team_Galaxy”
Category U-12 – “Dragons”
The opening ceremony of the tournament was attended by the BBF President - Maksim Ryzhenkov, Head of the Physical Training, Sports and Tourism Office of the Minsk City Executive Committee - Mikhail Prokopenko and the Head Coach of the National Teams of Belarus - Anatoli Iakoubenko.
The BBF President Maksim Ryzhenkov: "Undoubtedly, in recent months all the athletes lacked the competitive atmosphere and the drive that each of them needed. The fact that both professionals and fans of 3x3 basketball missed the game is reflected in the number of teams that came to the I stage: 122 teams, more than 500 participants. Of course, in current times a big plus of organizing basketball 3x3 tournaments is the fact that the competitions are held outdoors. In addition, all participants, fans and referees undergo a mandatory thermometry and hand sanitizing procedure while entering the arena. In other aspects, this season is not different from the previous five; it is still the main summer event in the Belarusian 3x3 basketball. By the way, today the matches in two prestigious categories "Elite" and "Girls" were broadcasted live on the "Belarus 5" TV channel, which undoubtedly became a big step for the development of the League and popularization of our sport, which already has its own history and reasons to be proud of".
Siarhei Tulskov, player of the “I-basket team”: "Firstly, it was very nice to dip into the competitive atmosphere again. Secondly, our team is always determined to win and win only. We knew that the professionals from the National team were at the training camp on the tournament eve, but we did not think to give up without a fight. We respect everybody and want to be treated with the same respect. I think it is necessary for “Elite” to have more than five teams, which were present today. It facilitates the competitiveness and rivalry for the first place. Still, we managed to prove ourselves as the most united team, thus becoming champions".
Anna Khatskevich, player of "Chichivichki": "We have a played team and have been playing for five years. Of course, we have our own tactics, which we try not to change and thus we managed to win today. I'm glad that “Palova” started after all, and the players have the opportunity to prove themselves again on the court after a long break".
Tomorrow, on July 5, at 11.00 representatives of the "General" category, which is the largest group of the tournament, will compete for the championship title. All games will be available on Sport-TV.by and belarus.basketball, as well as on YouTube channel "Palova basketball 3x3".
