6 women and 24 men participate in the referee training marathon. The project leader is the RKS (Republican referee collegium) Chairman and the FIBA Referee – Piotr Ivashkov; the project tutors are FIBA Referees Andrei Sharapa, Lizaveta Famina, Irina Konan, Piotr Ivashkov, and the National Championship referee – Dzianis Matsulevich. In addition, according to the results of the first online lectures cycle, two participants, who did not complete the tasks in due time, have left the program and now two another referees will replace them. In order to control their knowledge, the referees took online tests on the topic of knowledge of referees ' terms in English each week.

The workshop objectives:

1. Improving the knowledge of rules and interpretations;

2. Improving the officials’ signals;

3. Work with video (video cut, processing, creating clips);

4. Development of universal criteria for assessing game situations (based on materials of FIBA games and the National Championship);

5. Improving understanding of triple mechanics.

Duration of training - 3 cycles for 8 weeks:

1. 30.03.2020 – 24.05.2020

2. 25.05.2020 – 19.07.2020

3. 20.07.2020 – 13.09.2020

Lizaveta Famina, FIBA referee: "We managed to do a lot of work and even make visible progress with some of the participants of this program in almost two months of the workshop. Many boys and girls have significantly improved their theoretical knowledge and have proved themselves as curators. Starting from the next cycle (on May 25) young referees will be divided into groups that will allow them to work more precisely on the problematic moments or the ones they do not understand well enough."

All referees are divided into 4 groups:

Group 1 (8 people)

Group 2 (6 people) – female referees only

Group 3 (8 people)

Group 4 (8 people)

According to the results of each cycle, transitions between groups are carried out:

The best referee from group 2 and 3 goes to group 1, a referee/referees from group 1 with the worst results – to group 3.

The best referee from group 4 goes to group 3, a referee/referees from group 3 with the worst results – to group 4.

All tutors make decisions collectively, taking into account the results of group voting while evaluating the work of each referee.

Operating concept:

Each week the tutor gives his group a task(s) and then assesses the level and quality of performance through feedback.

All communication is carried out through specially created groups in messengers. Group 1 carries out assignments in English (individual assignments, at the discretion of the tutor, can also be given in Russian). Referees who cannot cope with the assignments in English are transferred to group 3 by decision of the tutors (without waiting for the cycle to end).
