The Abu Dhabi Sports Council played host to a working meeting between representatives of the organization and the Belarusian delegation.
Attending the meeting was General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council Aref Al Awani, Head of Technical Affairs at Abu Dhabi Sports Council Talal Al Hashemi, General Secretary, Executive Director of the Belarusian Basketball Federation Nastassia Marynina and Belarus' Ambassador to the UAE Andrei Luchenok. The parties discussed further cooperation, possible joint basketball projects, and also the organization of a return visit to Belarus. It is planned that taking part in joint training camps in Minsk will be the best teams from Abu Dhabi. The parties also talked over the development of 3x3 basketball as an Olympic event, the organization of tournaments and friendlies. According to Aref Al Awani, he has been to the Belarusian capital many times. In June 2019, the general secretary visited the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games. He hailed Belarus as a good host of the event. “We are happy that cooperation is developed first of all thanks to personal contacts and interaction between the leaders of our countries. Sport is a special component of cooperation between the states, while the Presidential Sport Club is behind joint projects. We hope that efforts to develop basketball will be continued in both the countries, Abu Dhabi teams will pay a return visit to Minsk and all our projects will be implemented,” Nastassia Marynina said. The Belarusian basketball delegation is in Abu Dhabi on a visit on 15-22 October as part of the memorandum on cooperation between the Presidential Sport Club and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. The project is implemented with the assistance of Baniyas Club and the Belarusian embassy in the United Arab Emirates. BC Tsmoki-Minsk farm team is expected to play friendlies with Abu Dhabi basketball teams.
